Washing machine in Germany

If you’ve come from a country where you never had to wash clothes in a machine, holla! I’m here for you. But, even if you came from a place where you’re kinda pro on washing clothes, hi, I’m here for you too.

In a country like Germany where the drying part of clothes seems like a mammoth task with the weather being non-cooperative as hell. Your best bet would be to go for a 2-in- washer dryer machine. Washing machine with dryer in Germany could solve all your problems without leaving your wet laundry for public display – aka – your balcony. Let’s not ruin out balconies guys.

Where can I buy washing machines in Germany?

My top 3 suggestions:

Saturn and MediaMarkt are two of the largest consumer electronics retail chains in Germany (and across Europe). They are actually sister companies under the same parent company, Ceconomy AG, and often operate in similar ways.

Here’s what they are:

  • Saturn: A well-known electronics store chain with a slightly more modern/urban branding. It sells a wide range of electronics including laptops, smartphones, TVs, kitchen appliances, and gaming gear.
  • MediaMarkt: Similar to Saturn, it offers a huge variety of electronics and household devices. MediaMarkt is often seen as more family-oriented in its branding.

What they offer:

  • Electronics: Phones, computers, tablets, TVs, cameras, etc.
  • Household appliances: Washing machines, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators.
  • Tech support: Installation, warranty services, and on-site help.
  • Online & in-store shopping: Both offer click-and-collect and home delivery options.

Top 5 Washer-Dryer Brands in Germany (2025)

Notes:

  • Durability: Miele machines are renowned for their longevity, often exceeding 20 years. Bosch and Siemens offer robust machines with a lifespan of 10–15 years. AEG and Samsung also provide durable options, typically lasting around 10–12 years.
  • Energy Efficiency: Miele and AEG models incorporate advanced technologies like heat pumps and automatic load sensing to enhance energy efficiency. Bosch and Siemens models offer features like automatic dosing and time-saving programs, contributing to energy savings. Samsung’s EcoBubble technology ensures efficient cleaning at lower temperatures.
  • Features: All brands offer smart connectivity options, allowing remote control and monitoring via dedicated apps. Features like automatic detergent dosing (Miele’s TwinDos, Bosch’s i-DOS), steam functions (AEG’s ProSteam, Siemens’ smartFinish), and specialized wash cycles cater to various fabric types and user needs Coolblue

When choosing a washer-dryer, consider your specific requirements, such as load capacity, available space, and desired features, to select the model that best suits your needs.

I will be honest, if you’re on a budget like me, I would recommend Midea washer dryer.

Here’s why:

The Midea MF10EW80B is a compact and energy-efficient washing machine, ideal for medium-sized households. It offers a variety of programs and features designed for convenience and hygiene, such as the Steam Care function and the ability to add laundry mid-cycle.

The best part is that I can set up my laundry on Mischwäsche (Mix wash for all colourings) setting, and set up the trocken (drying) time to 1 hour 80 minutes. the total machining running time will be around 4 hours, 30 minutes. Yes, sounds like alot but my laundry comes out super clean, super dry, a little bit warm, just enough so you fold your laundry up and voila!, you would barely need to iron your folded clothes now. No more hanging around in on an ugly drying stand, ruining your asthetics for 2-3 business days.
